Adoption Fees

This page outlines the adoption fees for cats and for dogs, and what services and items are included for that fee.

Fees are subject to change without notice. This statement does not in any way guarantee the adoption fee rates. Contact the Florence Area Humane Society at (541) 997-4277 for the current fees.

Participating Veterinarians: Many veterinarians in a variety of Oregon cities assist the local Humane Societies by providing "wellness" exams. Contact the shelter for a list of participating veterinarians in your area.

Other Animals: The Florence Area Humane Society has at times received rabbits, ferrets, birds, rats, and a variety of other animals for which they seek new homes. Adoption fees for those animals vary depending on the animal.

Cats -- $45 each / 2 for $80
  • If not already spayed or neutered, we will pay up to the amount of the adoption fee towards that surgery for your newly adopted pet.  It is required that all pets adopted from a shelter in Oregon be altered.
  • Initial "wellness" exam at a participating veterinarian
  • Current vaccinations as recommended for the age of the cat
  • One cardboard pet carrier
  • One collar and Humane Society identification tag
  • Adoption Kit containing general information about caring for cats, one package of cat treats, and one package of cat food (contents of Adoption Kit may vary)
Kitten 8/15/01
In addition to the above items and services, the Florence Area Humane Society attempts to provide each cat with litter box training. Do keep in mind that the transition from shelter life to home life can cause stress in a cat's life, and incidents of misbehavior or inappropriate elimination may occur. Use patience and loving care to help your new cat adjust to its new home.
Dogs -- $75 each
